This unique Victorian Era bronze came from an estate located in Argyle NY. It had been in the family farm house for many years. I do believe that it originally held a kerosene lamp and was later electrified. Not sure who did this casting, no foundry marks are visible, but has great detail and is a quality pc. I have not been able to find an example the same as this. The casting at his feet depict him standing on rocks while most other have a smooth disk style base. You could use as it is and simply add a shade of your liking or remove lighting part and use to hold a kerosene lamp. Silenus, Greek god of Wine. In Greek mythology, Silenus is a satyr, adoptive father and tutor of the god Dionysus who accompanies him constantly. He is also the god personifying Drunkenness. less
