This original 3-door cabinet design called “Fossils”, by Matthew Smith of Woodleaf Studios, was inspired by a handful of fossil … more This original 3-door cabinet design called “Fossils”, by Matthew Smith of Woodleaf Studios, was inspired by a handful of fossil laden floor tile given to Matthew by a friend. Each beautifully framed tile has its own unique character and geometry. The staggered boxes, each with their own adjoining display area, create movement as the eye explores the piece from top to bottom. The fossils have a grayish, metallic color so Matthew decided to use stainless steel rods and brushed nickel pulls as accents for the piece. The black cabinet body is made with ebonized mahogany. Each tier is punctuated with a horizontal band of fine dental molding that adds dimension and detail. The feet are cast aluminum and each foot has a small adjustable leveler. The doors are mounted with concealed european hinges and each door has a dampener to soften the self closing action of the hinge. less
